Boy Scout Eagle Project

Back in October of 2006, a nervous but well-spoken high school student appeared before the Club's Civic Affairs Committee with a request to build a "really big" outdoor fireplace at Comstock Park. The CAC hears fifteen to twenty requests a year, yet agreed unanimously that this was one of the most prepared and succinct presentations in recent memory. Even the Q & A was flawless: thoughtful, honest, and good humored.

The presenter was Bryson Williams, who was creating this lasting civic monument as his Eagle Scout Project. We made the grant partly because it's a good idea but mostly because we want to encourage Bryson in his willingness to embrace life and good works like...well, like a good Rotarian.
