This past Christmas the Rotary Club of Spokane 21’s Support Our Veterans Committee continued its tradition of sponsoring a family from Newby-ginnings of North Idaho, Inc., a group that helps to provide basic necessities and common comforts to Veterans, Active Servicemen, and Women, and Gold Star Families.

Thanks to a grant from Rotary District 5080 the committee was able to sponsor multiple families this year through Newby-ginnings Christmas program. Both families have been through rough times so without the Newby-Ginnings Christmas program, these families would not have had a Christmas at all. One family is a single mother and her two teenagers. The sense of relief on the moms face when we delivered presents was something the committee members said they will not soon forget. The other family that received presents included a 2-year-old and a 6-month-old, who you’ll see in the photos below opening their gifts. We hear the sled is a big hit right now as they both can sit in it and they can be pulled around their apartment complex.

Thank you to Club 21’s Support Our Veterans committee for their amazing work partnering with Newby-Ginnings and to all of the Club 21 members who donate to the Rotary Community Services fund, your donation is making a difference in our community!
