Notes from
President Gary

If you’ve ever wondered about the reach and results of Rotary 21, here’s something we can all be proud of – thanks to a couple of great ideas, a lot of committed Rotarians, and service above self.

When Covid 19 hit, it created a void in one area where it was needed the most – making sure people could feed their families. Past -President Paul Viren started the effort by providing a $15,000 donation from Rotary 21 to buy food for those in need. Then our fellow Rotarians picked up the baton and raised $15,500 as part of the Rotary 21 Special Response Task Force.
Rotary International awarded Rotary 21 a $25,000 grant - one of only a few given to local clubs.

And last, but certainly not least, Rotary 21’s own Youth Services Committee contributed $5,000 for the Bite To Go Program that provides meals for children in area schools. Altogether that’s $60,500 to help feed families - thanks to the creativity, drive, and generosity of our Rotarians. And all of those funds were donated to Second Harvest, which stretches one donated dollar into ten – that’s more than $600,000 worth of food for those who need it.

Thanks to Past President Paul Viren, the Task Force, and all of those locally and regionally for responding to this need and thanks to all of the Rotarians who made this possible.

Good works done well, by those who care.

See you on Thursday, from wherever you are.

October 17th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for the first-ever Virtual Rotary Club #21 Game Night!
The Rotary Club #21 Member Engagement Committee has a fun night planned on October 17th.  Kyle Weir and Manny Hochheimer will be hosting a “Virtual Game Night.”  The plan is to have teams of five meet at different “host” homes and then log into a Zoom call at 6:00 p.m.  Your 5 person team will compete against the other 5 person teams in a game of Virtual Trivial Pursuit.  We may even toss in some Rotary and Spokane questions just to mix it up and have fun!
If you’d like to be part of this fun evening please email the Rotary Office and let us know you’d like to play.  Also, please let us know if you’d be willing to host a team at your home as well.  Once we get closer to game night we can match up contestants and hosts.  And, Kyle & Manny said they’d even toss in some fun prizes for the winning team!
So please mark your calendars now and let the Rotary Office know if you plan on attending this fun member engagement event on October 17th!
