6/18/26 Rotary Off the Cuff: Deb Gore & Robin Corkery
What was your first job?
Deb: I was a camp counselor at a summer camp in the San Juan Islands called Camp Norwester. I stayed there for many summers.
Robin: Hauling garbage for the park department.
What’s one word your friends would use to describe you?
Robin: Abrasive (laughs…Julie adds – I’d like to meet those friends. That’s not how I would describe you.)
Deb: Enthusiastic
What are you looking forward to the most this summer?
Deb: I’m heading off to Europe in two weeks to go hike around Mont Blanc. I’m very excited about that.
Robin: Colorado. (Where are you going?) It’s called Aspen, and I have family there.
In honor of Father’s Day, what’s something that your father said or did that sticks with you?
Robin: “Do you expect me to believe that?”
Deb: My father inspired me to go to med school, so when I was in college, he said, you better take those pre-med classes. (And it worked?) It didn’t. No, I took them after I graduated.
When did you join Rotary and who/what inspired you to join?
Deb: I joined just this January (2026), and it was Deb Harper, Rotarian extraordinaire, who inspired me about 15 years ago. We shared offices right next to each other, and she was always running off (to Rotary) for lunch, and I was like, where are you going? How do you do this? So I wanted to join then, but I couldn’t swing it.
Robin: In 1990, and the late Wayne McNalty, who owned and operated TV stations brought me in.
