Honor Flight Volunteer Opportunity

Inland Northwest Honor Flight honors Veterans who served during wartime. Most Veterans who go on Honor Flight now are Vietnam Veterans.  Spokane 21, via a district grant submission, will fund 13 Veterans to go on Honor Flight on October 13-14. Honor Flight needs guardians to chaperone the Veterans on these flights, and Spokane 21 members are welcome to apply as chaperones for this flight.  If you are interested in being a guardian, you can apply via the following link.

4/16/26 Rotary Off the Cuff: Jenn May & Harley Reckord

What’s your favorite morning ritual?

Jenn: First, always coffee.

Harley: Coffee and read the Spokesman.

Do you prefer the newspaper in hard copy or digital format?

Harley: Digital. Hard copy for a long time, but finally got converted.

Jenn: Definitely digital.

What’s your favorite comic strip?

Jenn: The Far Side

Harley: Yeah, The Far Side, and I usually liked Peanuts when I was a kid.

What’s something people are surprised to learn about you?

Harley: I was in a musical kindergarten that was in Life magazine in about 1953, I think, is when they came and did the national article on us.

Jenn: I’ll keep with the same thing. I won a coloring contest when I was young, and I got a “Pokey the Puppy” watch.

When did you join Rotary, and who/what inspired you to join?

Jenn: I joined in 2018 for the first time. Of course, it was Julie (Kelsey) who inspired me to join. And I’m rejoining because I really miss the community and all the wonderful opportunities we have to do things for people and, of course, meeting you all, getting to know you.

Harley: I joined in 1991, probably inspired most by my dad, who was also a Rotarian member of this Club. And also, my grandfather was a third-generation Rotarian.

Happy Birthday to you!
