Notes from
President Gary

In a year of interesting and challenging changes – few organizations have had more to deal with within a few months than Spokane Public Schools…

From the decision to close schools early due to COVID-19 to determining how best to continue educating the thousands of students who are taught by hundreds of educators in one of largest school systems in the state….while trying to address the needs of parents, teachers, the school board and the all of those who are in some way affected by those decisions.
For the past 8 years, former Rotary 21 member Dr. Shelley Redinger lead the district with help from a team of experts, educators, and administrators. Now, with Dr. Redinger’s recent departure to the Tri-Cities…the person now making those calls will be our guest speaker on August 6th, Dr. Adam Swinyard.

Dr.  Swinyard was appointed Superintendent of Spokane Schools just days after Dr. Redinger announced her departure.  His career path includes assistant principal and principal posts (including principal of Sacajawea Middle School,) Director of Secondary Schools and Associate Superintendent in 2017.

Now normally I wouldn’t highlight a speaker two weeks out, but for many of us this will be the first time to hear from him and find out his vision for Spokane Public Schools – in the new now…and the challenging future.

So if you’ve got someone you’ve been trying to get to visit a meeting…you might want to circle August 6th…

See you on Thursday.
