Notes from
President Paul

Greetings My Rotary Family!

Finally, SUMMER!  We made it through the wet, cool spring to now enjoy the best season in Spokane!  I hope your days are filled with family, friends, and hidden smiles under facemasks.

My focus continues to be on volunteerism and encouraging you to join a Rotary Club 21 Committee this coming new Rotary year.  Last week's focus was on the RCS committees.  This week, I encourage you to participate in one of the 11 “club” committees.  For many of us, these committees are the heart of Rotary Club 21 and within these groups, deep friendships and fellowship occur.  Some of these committees meet regularly and others meet as needed.  Every committee plays a vital role in creating the experience and strength of what Rotary Club 21 is about.
• Membership Development – Bridget Barrington and Rod Price – Recruits new Rotary Club 21 members.
• Membership Engagement / Mentoring – Paul Viren – Mentor’s new Club members and creates activities and experiences outside of the weekly Club meeting.
• Classification Committee – Kevin Berkompas – Reviews and approves new member applications.
• Greeters Committee – Stefanie Page – Requires smiles to greet us each week, and a lot of organization to create our amazing in-person meetings. We will be back together one day!
• Invocation Committee – Julie Humphries – Weekly devotion to share with the membership.
• Program Committee – Julie Kelsey – Manages the speakers and programs we enjoy each week.
• Marketing and Communication – Pia Hallenberg – Markets our great work to the membership and community.
• Piano Playing – Greg Tenold – leads us in song on Thursday.
• Rotary Club 21 Foundation Development Committee – Kyle Weir – Encourages us to contribute and be active with the Rotary Club 21 Foundation.
• Budget Committee – Jennifer Thompson – Helps manage the budget and resources for the Club.
• Development Coordination Committee – Debbie Rauen and PJ Watters – Builds the schedule for fundraising appeals to our members throughout the year.

If you want to find out more about any of these committees, please call me or the committee chairs.  They welcome your involvement and need your support and volunteer time!

A BIG THANK YOU to the current committee chairs and active members for their time and expertise. Please know you are appreciated so much!

Enjoy the long summer days and stay well.

Paul S. Viren
