Notes from
President Paul

Greetings My Rotary Family!

It’s funny what we take for granted during times like we are living in. I know we are all shaking our heads at the toilet paper dilemma, but my current sad new reality is my barber is shut down. Now I know this is a first-world problem, but the shaggier I get the more I revert back to 1978 when I had LONG hair!  Maybe this is a good thing!

On a more serious note, you received a special e-mail last Thursday with a Rotary Club 21 ALL TO ACTION!  The Board of Directors has created a Special Response Task Force that will begin this week.

The task force will have two direct tasks, 1) to support our Club members in this time of need and 2) to assist our community and critical non-profits that we can support with volunteer time and financial resources.

For the first task, supporting our members, there are several steps we can take.
  • Develop a calling system where members of the task force are assigned up to 10 members of the club to call and connect with to make sure they are well and if they need anything.
  • Work on developing an on-line Zoom Club meeting to invite our members to meet.  Jenna and I have worked on some details but we need some volunteers to create the program and agenda, etc. We hope to start this on April 2nd.
  • If there are members in need, health challenges, food, etc. We can provide some volunteer support and to make sure we are all communicating the needs of our members that may be in crisis and to assist where appropriate.
For the second task, supporting our community, there are things we can do.

  • Have the RCS committee chairs meet via Zoom and confirm they are continuing their work and looking for grants and getting funds out to the community where most needed.
  • Review the available financial resources we can pull together in the current RCS budget and possibly dipping into the RCS reserves to offer funds to our committees.
  • Communicate to the community leaders and use our network to get the word out that we can help with volunteer time and funds.
  • Pull together a volunteer action team, to be ready and available to assist in the community such as helping and Second Harvest, or other volunteer projects.  This team will actively reach out to those agencies that may need some of our time.
The initial Rotary Special Response Task Force will meet next Tuesday, March 31st at 10:00 a.m. via Zoom Video conference.

Please indicate to Jenna by replying to this message that you are interested in serving on the task force.  Please also indicate in your message what area of support you are willing to help with.

We are a Rotary Club that can make a difference and let’s show our community what we are made of! Please stay healthy and strong and together we will be a stronger community! Yours in service together,

                      Cheers,
