Each week we will highlight a Rotary member and tell their story, so you can connect their face to their name and connect with them!
This week’s Rotary story is about a Rotarian who is single but lives with three cats, Andrew Wyeth, Madam Curie, and Betye Saar (Betty SARR). She is a visual artist, published poet, freelance writer, public art consultant, and an occasional teacher of art and arts leadership. In addition, she has worked numerous jobs over the years, from a ranch hand to an emergency room worker in a rural hospital to a museum director and eventually Spokane City Arts Director.
In her free time, she likes to travel, garden, volunteer and cook. However, currently, her biggest financial and energy commitment for the past two years has been her effort to treat breast cancer and hopefully survive so she can keep doing other worthwhile activities.
She was a Rotary Youth Exchange student and is currently a Co-Chair for our own International Service Committee and has been a past board member of our club.
She has traveled all over the world and has even enjoyed a Rotary Friendship Exchange to Ecuador!
In 1997, she transferred her Rotary membership from Casper Wyoming to Club 21. She hopes to continue vital work to provide potable water to the world and peace through service to others.
