Note from
President Weir

F is for Freedom.
Last week’s Rotary “F” word was “Freedom.” We all know that freedom isn’t free, and we have our veterans to thank for that freedom. Last week we had a fantastic Veterans Day program from a couple that is giving back to our soldiers who have served our country so well. Our Club also gives back to the men and women who have served our country through our Support our Veterans Committee, which is funded thanks to your donations to RCS. Some recent grants have included school supplies for children of active military, a dishwasher for the VOA Veterans Transition Housing, and ongoing support of the Homefront Heroes event which sponsors a night out at the Loof Carousel for active military families. One very special grant is for Guitars for Music Therapy for Holy Names Music Academy. Music Therapy is a proven treatment for PTSD, and your RCS dollars go towards the long-term healing of Combat Veterans who otherwise would not be able to get this life-saving therapy. We also sponsor Christmas gifts for needy Veteran Families through a grant to Newby-Ginnings. Seeing the joy on those kids tells us that those RCS dollars have been well invested in the lives of those families.
Thank you to the many Veterans and military families whom we honored last week. And thank you Rotarians for your ongoing donations to RCS, because of you, the amazing work of our Support Our Veterans Committee is possible!
F also stands for Fun!
And this weekend is sure to be a FUN time as Rotary all across Spokane comes together to march in the  2021 ‘Destination Spokane’ holiday parade through downtown Spokane this Saturday, November 20th at 3:30 pm. We invite all club members to march with our Rotary banner in the parade, afterward we will gather at Bark a Rescue Pub for a social!
If you are interested in participating please contact the Rotary Office.
I look forward to a fun time this Saturday!

             Truly Honored,
                        Kyle Weir
