The Rotary Minute is a quick one-minute story that features the work and impact of Rotary in our community and world!

January is Vocational Service Month

January 2021 is Vocational Service Month | District 7070
January is Vocational Service Month in Rotary International! Vocational Service gives Rotarians the opportunity to help others learn and lead and encourage good ethics through vacation.

Paul Harris himself once wrote: "Each Rotarian is a connecting link between the idealism of Rotary and their trade or profession".
Vocational Service is the way Rotary fosters and supports the application of the Ideal of Service above Self to the pursuit of all vocations. It is the shared responsibility of both the Rotary Club and its members.

Rotary International states that the role of the Club is to implement and encourage the objectives by its own actions in dealing with the community and by the development of projects and grants that enable members to use their vocational talents in the service of the community.

Our own club Vocational Services Committee donates over $15,000 per year in scholarships to worthy students to help them pursue their own vocational dreams, including the Katy Reeves Performing Arts Scholarship in honor of the late Katy Reeves to those students who wish to pursue a career in performing arts. Watching these deserving students win these awards each month to help them achieve their vocational dreams is part of the reason why I love being a Rotarian!

So remember, even though January in Rotary International is Vocational Services Month! Every month at club #21 is Vocational Services Month as we choose to honor these deserving students all year long!

And that is today’s Rotary Minute!
