October 28, 2021: Solutions to Entrenched Racial Inequities in our Regional Justice System

It is time to discuss solutions to combat the problem of racial prejudice in our legal system. Statistical information regarding the disparate legal outcomes between white and black/indigenous / people of color (BIPOC) individuals in both criminal and civil matters supports the conclusion that entrenched racial biases exist within Spokane’s legal system. Focusing on finding the solutions to solve this problem in the legal system, this presentation provides an overview of the data and the data dashboard which showcases the disparity in legal outcomes within Spokane. The presentation will also explore solutions that are being piloted to ensure our legal system fulfills the standards of providing liberty and justice for all
